- CALATABIANO. Staying at “Domus Candida”
in Calatabiano is ideal if you want to visit Taormina and
spend a wonderful holiday on San Marco beach in front of
a beautiful blue sea, or if you want to go on classical
and nature trips from Alcantara valley with its famous and
charming gorges- to the imposing volcano Mt Etna. You can
also take part in wine-and-food routes to discover typical
local products and other interesting things to appreciate
on the way.

 “Domus
Candida” is situated in Calatabiano, a small town
in the district of Catania, whose boundaries are the River
Alcantara Natural Park to the north, and the Wildlife Reserve
of Fiumefreddo River to the south. It lies only 1 Km from
San Marco beach, next to the municipal territories of Taormina
and Giardini Naxos. The house, thoroughly restored, consists
of: living room and dining area, with a big balcony on the
first floor; two comfortable and cosy bedrooms on the second
floor, as quiet and silent as the countryside at the back. |
 On
the personalized walls you will admire beautiful photos
of Mt Etna’s Cirneco dogs and a private collection
of view cards and photos of Calatabiano and its traditions.
The materials -especially the wrought iron for the balustrades,
and the precious Caltagirone ceramics for the steps and
some sinks- were saved after the restoration. |
 The
sea is 1 Km away; the beach is both free and organized in
private clubs. In the town you will find two post offices,
three banks, the Medical Emergency service, six bakeries,
pizzerias and restaurants (especially in the town centre).
There are two restaurants on the beach (San Marco beach),
five beach clubs, buses to Taormina and San Marco. You can
also order traditional foods from home cooking services. |
